This is our city. Our office is here, our caregivers live here, and Selena has been doing this work in Lowell for ten years. When a caregiver is running late because of the traffic on the Lowell Connector, she is running late from somewhere nearby.
Lowell has just over thirteen thousand residents aged sixty-five and over. around 12% of the city, which is lower than the state average, because Lowell is a young city. That will change: Massachusetts expects its over-65 population to grow by more than 40% in the next fifteen years, and Lowell will grow with it. Right now it means something specific for families here. there is less of an established path for this than in the towns around us, and more people working it out alone.
