Our story
Founded on the belief that everyone deserves to age with grace.
Selena M. Barach Home Care Services was born from a deeply personal experience, watching loved ones struggle to find compassionate, dignified care. Since establishment, we have been committed to a different standard: one where caregivers are chosen for their heart as much as their skills.
Every caregiver on our team is thoroughly vetted, background checked, bonded, and insured. More importantly, they are people who genuinely love what they do and it shows in every interaction.
Screened & certified caregivers
Every caregiver undergoes a comprehensive multi-step background check, CPR certification, and ongoing training before joining our team.
Personalised care plans
No two seniors are alike. We design a custom plan around your loved one's specific needs, preferences, and schedule.
Family always informed
Regular updates, open communication, and a dedicated care coordinator keep your family close, even from a distance.

Meet Selena
In my own words.
My name is Selena Barach and this is my company. I answer the phone. I meet every family before we start, and I know every caregiver on our team by their first name, their kids' names, and how they take their coffee.
I started in this work as a caregiver myself. I sat with people at the end of long lives, I helped mothers get dressed while their grown children stood in the hallway not knowing what to do, and I learned very quickly that the difference between good care and bad care has almost nothing to do with paperwork. It has to do with whether the person walking through the door treats the house like it belongs to somebody.
I have been doing this work for ten years, first as a caregiver in other people's houses, and now running my own agency here in Lowell. I started Selena M Barach Home Care Services because I kept seeing families being handed off between call centers and told a stranger would be there Tuesday. I thought we could do this differently, in one city, at a size where I could still know everybody. That is still the whole plan.
What I promise you is simple. I will tell you the truth about what your father needs, even when it is not what you were hoping to hear. I will send you a caregiver I would send to my own mother, and if the match is not right I will fix it. no charge, no awkward conversation, no explanation required. And I will pick up the phone, at eleven at night, on a Sunday, in a snowstorm, because that is what having my name on the door means.
If any of that sounds like what your family needs, please call me. If it doesn't, I will tell you honestly who I think would be a better fit. That has never cost me a client I was supposed to keep.

Matching is not scheduling
Most of what makes care work has nothing to do with qualifications. One of our clients was a schoolteacher for thirty years and she will not take instructions from anybody. so she needs someone who asks rather than tells. Another does not talk and does not want to; he wants the radio on and to be left alone with dignity, and a relentlessly cheerful caregiver would be shown the door in a week. Both of them are right, and they need completely different people. We match on that. It is not a science and we do not always get it right first time, which is why the next part exists.
If it is not right, you tell us and we change it
No explanation required, no awkward conversation, no charge, and nobody gets in trouble. You do not have to justify it. “It's not working” is a complete sentence. Families sit on this for months because they feel guilty about it, and meanwhile someone is enduring a person they do not like in their own kitchen. Please just call us.
